For a rain sensor I etched a 4x8 inch PCB with 2 interlocking
combs of tracks. 12V
is applied to one side through a 1M resister.
The other side feeds a transistor base.
The Emitter is grounded and the collector fed through an
optical isolator. Rain
provides a small current to the transistor base, which is enough
to power, the isolator. To
stop dew from collecting on the detector a series of ceramic
resistors warms the PCB. |
