Mel Bartels stepper motor drive system is
usually used to control portable Dobsonian telescopes. However it
includes many features that really only come into there own when
used with a fixed system. Mels program runs on a 486 pc (PC1) and
directly controls steppers on alt and az axis. Also under direct
control is a 5 inch floppy drive motor which turns the frame rotator
(thanks go to Christopher Warnes for the motor). The scope program
can take lx200 commands from (lets say) PC3. Input is also received
from the hand pad and from 2 optical detectors at the ends of the
worms |
