Mirror testing

Back Up Next

For most of my indoor testing I have used the comparative Ronchi test. This is explained here. The reference ronghigrams were produced with ronwin. In the figure below the top row are the reference images and second the fist test I did when I received the mirror back from figuring. From this it looks like the mirror is horribly under-corrected. The real explanation I think is that the mirror was being tested near a window and wasn't able to thermally equilibrate. The bottom set of images is from the mirror place away from drafts! This looks pretty good. The difference between the 2 tests really brings home the necessity of allowing mirrors to cool freely.
