Winter 25/26 was time to introduce a bit more wildlife friendly cover. Fortunately we had a couple of dry days in January to allow rotovating of ground where we will plant the hedge.

Hedge will be 50% Hawthorne with the remainder a mix of Dog Rose, Dog wood, Blackthorn, Spindle, Crab apple and Guelder Rose. I have ordered these as bare root plants which will require planting before March.

The summer of 2026 has been very hot and dry. We have drought conditions which has really limited growth. Still about 80% of the plants are still alive and should fare better next year especially if we get a bit more rain.
